Govt urges motorists to obey rules of the road

Government has appealed to motorists to drive with extra care and observe the rules of the road during the Easter long-weekend.  This is as road fatalities continue to escalate as holiday makers and members of different churches make annual pilgrimages to different parts of the country.

On Wednesday a bus crash claimed the lives of 13 people in the Eastern Cape.  On Thursday morning three people were killed in a collision between a taxi and car on the N1 road in Mookgopong in Limpopo.

Traffic is expected to pick up later in the afternoon on the N1 road and other major routes between Pretoria and the Beit bridge border post in Musina. Acting Government spokesperson, Phumla Williams has stressed the need for motorists to observe road safety rules.

“We would like to appeal to the motorists to observe the rules of the road and make sure they minimise the loss of life during this festive season.  Rest every two hours to make sure we save lives during this period.” Click below below for more on the story:
