Reading Time: < 1 minute

Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Zweli Mkhize says the government is committed to fully resolve some outstanding issues in Vuwani.

He was speaking during his courtesy visit to Vha-Venda king Toni Mphephu Ramabulana.

The demarcation issues in Vuwani thrust the area into volatility with the enduring repercussions on social cohesion.

Issues such as services delivery in the area are still outstanding and Mkhize says Vuwani remains one of his department’s top priorities.

“It was appropriate of us to pay the visit to the King, basically to announce ourselves as new Minister but basically to seek support on issues around this area. It was a discussion today to work on a process to deal with these issues.”

The King has pledged to work with government on the issue of expropriation of land

King Ramabulana says, “We have agreed with the Minister that we are still going to have a formal meeting with his department, where different stakeholders will be invited to put matters to bed.”

Mkhize will also visit other traditional leaders across the country.
