A government rehabilitation facility for the care of recovering addicts has officially been opened at Seshego in Limpopo.

Social Development MEC Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana and Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba addressed members of the community including religious leaders during the opening.

The centre is meant to treat people suffering from substance abuse at a free cost to the patients. Mokaba-Phukwana says day patients will also be treated.

“We are expecting people who are addicted from alcohol and drugs and also in this facility will be people that we are going to admit. We are going to admit people from 18-years-old and downward. It is going to be an outpatient (facility), meaning that they’ll be coming to the centre getting treatment, going back home but there’ll be social workers that will be monitoring them.”
