Government has set up a team of technical experts to find ways of bringing down the price of fuel.

Energy Minister Jeff Radebe told parliament’s Energy portfolio committee on Tuesday that the team is expected to complete its work by the end of September and that parliament and the public will be informed.

Briefing the committee Radebe said the high levels of fuel prices are as a result of increased international crude oil price, the resultant increase in the refined petroleum product price and the deterioration of the rand value against the US dollar over the last few months.

He explained what government is doing to address the high fuel price and its impact on the country.

“There are tactical teams from the department of energy and NT that have started to work on review of fuel price structure as was indicated by press two months ago to see whether there can be any adjustments that can be made.”
