Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has been summoned to an African National Congress (ANC) caucus meeting to discuss developments around the SAA strike.

Workers affiliated to National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) and the South African Cabin Crew Association (SACCA) are currently on strike over wages and other demands.

The ANC also wants to discuss the possible privatisation of South African Airways (SAA) amid continuing financial issues, with the public enterprises minister.

The airline announced restructuring which it says may lead to job losses.
