On July 29,Cameron van der Burgh won the 100-metre breaststroke final at the Aquatic Centre in world record time of 58. 46 seconds.The 24-year-old clocked a time of 00:58:83 seconds in the semi-finals, beating the previous record of 00:58.91 held by Kosuke Kitajima of Japan.
