Goeffrey Makhubo elected ANC’s regional chair In Johannesburg

The African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg has elected unopposed, Geoff Makhubo as the regional chairperson at its elective conference, currently underway in Sandton, north of the city.

Makhubo who was formerly the Regional Treasurer will now take over from former Joburg Mayor, Parks Tau.

ANC Joburg spokesperson Jolidee Matongo says the results of the four remaining top positions will be announced later on Sunday.

“The position of the Chairperson of the ANC in Johannesburg has been concluded, with the election of comrade Goeffrey Makhubo as the chairperson of the ANC – who was elected unopposed. The rest of the top positions were voted for by the delegates up to this [Sunday] morning. The results of these elections will then be announced this morning.”

Meanwhile, voting has also been concluded for the top officials of the Ekurhuleni and Sedibeng regions.

The results of the elections in these conferences being held in Irene, Pretoria, will also be released today.

The Tshwane and West Rand regional conferences will take place next weekend, while the ANC Gauteng Provincial elective conference will be held from the 2oth to the 22nd of this month.
