Reading Time: < 1 minute

A progress report into the killings at Glebelands hostel in KwaZulu-Natal will come under scrutiny in Parliament on Tuesday morning.

The SAPS is expected to brief the Police Portfolio Committee on how it’s dealing with the problem. There will also be a briefing on the recent stolen firearms at two Western Cape Police stations.

The Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal police management will be briefing the committee on different aspects.

Police Committee Chairperson Francois Beukman says the KZN SAPS is expected to give a progress report on its investigations into the Glebelands killings.

In addition, the Western Cape police division will give its report on the fire-arms that were stolen at the Belville and Mitchell’s Plain police stations. And Beukman says the Hawks is also expected to brief the committee.

The Hawks will focus on illegal mining, illicit financial flows and give a progress about the functioning of the narcotics and illegal fire-ram units that were established a year ago.
