Baroka FC head Coach Wedson Nyirenda says giving Thandani Ntshumayelo a run in the side’s 2-1 league loss to Mamelodi Sundowns was not a gamble.
The midfielder, who served a drug ban, played his first professional match in three years coming on as a substitute in the game’s last 35 minutes.
With Rodwell Chinyenketere suspended for two matches Ntshumayelo has an opportunity to fight for a starting berth.
Nyirenda says he needed to see the player in a competitive encounter.
Bakgaga are second from bottom on the Absa Premiership log with 24 points from 26 outings. They are facing 13th placed Free State Stars away in Goble Park, Bethlehem tomorrow evening. Only a point separates the sides on the table with Nyirenda speaking of better preparation for this relegation duel.
With just four rounds of league action to conclude this campaign and six other sides still in danger of the dreaded axe the Zambian mentor remains confident of Bakgaga’ survival.
