Malusi Gigaba says they have already started responding to queries that people have.

Returning Home Affairs minister Malusi Gigaba has promised to reposition the department to serve the people better.

He returned to the department on Friday from the finance ministry following President Cyril Ramaphosa cabinet reshuffle.

Home Affairs top management, including Director General Mkuseli Apleni and Deputy Minister Fatima Chohan, were on hand to welcome him back.

Gigaba addressed the group and media.

“There is great excitement amongst the staff and among ordinary South Africans. I have been receiving a lot of emails, text even on social media people welcoming me back and already raising their problems. We have already started responding to the queries that people have. They have already told us that we have a number of offices that are not functioning well. So part of my responsibility as well as assisting to reposition the department in line with the President vision is to respond to the improvement of services so that we can serve our people better.”
