Truckloads of aid from the Gift of the Givers warehouses in Kimberley,  Gqeberha, Graaff-Reinet and Cape Town is on its way to George in the Southern Cape to provide assistance to those affected by floods.

Persistent overnight rain has left a trail of destruction across the town. Aid will also be sent to Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn where flood damage was reported and residents displaced.

“In addition to the blankets, food parcels, hygiene packs, sanitary pads, bottled water – even pet food will be brought for animals that have been put into the animal shelters. Hot nutritious meals will be provided to the people on-site and mattresses and plastic sheeting will be made available at the appropriate opportunity. In addition, the SAPS have graciously partnered us. The central command has given us permission to use the Eden cluster base as the Gift of the Givers logistics centre,” Gift of the Givers head Dr. Imtiaaz Sooliman explains.
