Aid organisation Gift of the Givers, says they are assisting the community at KTC in Gugulethu on the Cape Flats where a fire destroyed 43 structures on the Day of Goodwill.

Four people, including two firefighters, were injured during the blaze.

Gift of the Givers Spokesperson, Ali Sablay, says they will be providing the community with aid for the next three days.

“Gift of the Givers teams have been on the ground providing the community with their first meal in days, blankets, and mattresses. We are trying to get the relevant authorities to listen to the community’s concerns. They say no one has come forward to assist them. There are many elderly staying there as well. Gift of the Givers team is on the ground for the next three days to assist this community.”
