One of the recipients of the food donations delivered by Gift of the Givers says the food hampers will go a long way in assisting his impoverished community.
Gift of the Givers begun rolling out food hampers to various organisations, churches, mosques and feeding schemes in Cape Town.
This as the Muslim Ramadan month of fasting begins.
Imam Abdulrazak Nordien of the Masjidul Aashiq, in Tafelsig in Mitchells Plain, says he’s seen food queues getting longer in his community.
“We are a very underprivileged area. We’ve got a 60% unemployment rate and as I always say that food is like gold to my community, and they look forward to this of the year especially in the time of Ramadan where a lot of people are unemployed. They look forward to the support of the Gift of the Givers.”
