Humanitarian organisation, Gift of the Givers continues to bring relief to areas that are hard hit by the ongoing drought.

In Adelaide in the Eastern Cape, it has drilled eleven boreholes to provide the town and its surroundings with clean drinking water.

Aging water infrastructure has been cited as one of the factors contributing to water scarcity in the area.

Last month, the Department of Water and Sanitation committed to tightening working relations with the Eastern Cape government to provide sustainable water solutions.

Many municipalities in the province are battling with drought and failing water infrastructure.

The effects of the drought have led to the province being declared a disaster area on numerous occasions.
