Giant strides in gender equality

The women of South Africa have played a variety of roles in society – as mothers, sisters, bread-winners and care-givers. But today they are also lawyers, doctors, politicians and even judges. Much has been achieved over the last twenty years in recognition of the crucial role women play. But there are still many pockets of inequality – and the fight is sometimes a public, yet often unspoken one.

The fight for gender equality remains a pervasive one. Democracy20 Elections Show has looked at gender equality in the past two decades.
