The conference room is now known as the Ronnie Mamoepa Media Centre.
56 year-old Mamoepa died in 2017 after suffering a stroke.
Mamoepa served in various senior government communication positions since democracy.
Before his death, he acted as spokesperson for then Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Mamoepa became one of the youngest political activists to be detained at Robben Island during the struggle against apartheid.
The centre is a symbolic reminder of his sacrifices for freedom and democracy.
