The Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi, says the 2022 applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners will be conducted in two phases.
Lesufi says online applications will officially open on August 10. Grade 8 applications will be between August 10 until September 3.
Speaking during a virtual media briefing, Lesufi says applications for Grade 1 learners will open from September 13 until October 8.
“The first phase will open on the 10th August and close on 3rd September 2021 at midnight. The 2nd phase will commence on the 13th September at 8AM and will close on the 8th October at midnight. The placement of phase 1 will happen between 15th October and 30th November and phase two between November 15th and November 30th”
The second phase which will commence on the 13th of September will open for grade 1 applications as well as grade 8 applicants who aren’t in the department’s system. These include those who aren’t from the province as well as those from private and independent schools.
Placements will take place between 15th October and November 30th. Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi says there’ll be 47 walk-in centres across the province to assist those without access to the internet.
