Thandiwe Pino, the Chief Director of Supply Chain and Asset Management at the Department of Health in Gauteng,  has been dismissed following the SIU investigation into allegations of maladministration, greed, nepotism and corruption in the appointment of service providers by the provincial department to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and related goods and services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Health Portfolio Committee of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature has also welcomed the dismissal of the senior official.

The allegations were referred by the Office of the Premier in March 2020.
