Gauteng residents who received their second vaccination today say they feel much safer.

This is as the number of COVID-19 infections continues to rise.

More than 3 200 cases have been recorded across the country in the past 24-hour reporting cycle, with eight more people succumbing to COVID-19 related complications.

Most of the new infections, over 2 600, have been recorded in Gauteng.

These Gauteng residents say they hope the vaccine will prevent them from falling seriously ill if they contract the virus.

“I’m happy, I just got my second vaccination and I just pray and hope that it’s not going to affect me or attack me since they say it’s affecting a lot of people now. Hopefully, I will be more immune to this new variant that’s coming around and affecting South Africa in the fourth wave. I’m just hoping that should I come into contact with the virus this vaccine will protect me from the virus and that this vaccine will help me recover much faster from this virus,” say a few residents who took the COVID-19 vaccine.
