Gauteng recognises township businesses

The Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Lebogang Maile will announce the finalists of the 2018 Township Entrepreneurship Awards.

The event will be held at the Banquet Hall Germiston Civic Centre, in the City of Ekurhuleni.

The Township Entrepreneurship Awards was officially launched in 2015 as part of its strategic intervention aimed to rejuvenate the Gauteng City Region townships’ economy.

The main objective of the awards is to recognise and reward entrepreneurial talent in townships at the same time building and strengthening confidence in township based businesses.

Acting Group CEO of the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller Leah Manenhze, says the awards ceremony is important because it inspires young people in the townships to start their own businesses,

Manenhze says that there is definitely business training and mentorship coaching for the finalists.
