Gauteng police have arrested a suspect believed to be part of the so-called Boko Haram gang. The gang is alleged to have been involved in robberies, extortion, intimidation, and other serious and violent crimes in Mamelodi and surrounding areas in Tshwane.

Police say the suspect is reportedly involved in a robbery at a store in Mamelodi where an undisclosed amount of cash and groceries were taken.

“The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Gauteng has welcomed the arrest of this suspect and commended the police team that worked so hard to ensure that this most wanted suspect is behind bars. The suspect is expected to appear at Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 28 December 2021,” Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo explains.
