Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development Tasneem Motara has tested positive for the coronavirus. Motara received her results on Friday after testing on Wednesday.
She will now be in isolation for 14 days, in accordance with the World Health Organisation (WHO) protocols.
The Gauteng Executive Council, led by Premier David Makhura, has wished Motara a speedy recovery.
Gauteng has recorded nearly 50 000 coronavirus cases – of which around 13 000 have recovered.
At least 282 people have died from COVID-19-related illnesses in the province.
