Gauteng Jaguars crowned Telkom Premier League champions

The Jaguars were dominant winning three quarters and drawing the second one. The two teams also met in the final last year with the Jaguars winning by one goal. It is the third time in a row, the Jaguars win the competition.

Gauteng Jaguars were crowned Telkom Premier League Netball champions after beating Western Cape Southern Stings 53-38 in the final match at the Rembrandt Hall at the University of Pretoria on Saturday night.

The Jaguars were dominant winning three quarters and drawing the second one. The two teams also met in the final last year with the Jaguars winning by one goal. It is the third time in a row, the Jaguars win the competition.

The two teams also beat each other in the group stage of the competition. The defeat handed the Jaguars their first loss in 26 matches.

The Jaguars have also appeared in all the finals since the competition was started in 2014. Free State Crinums won the event from 2014 to 2016.

Van Dyk praised her players and also said that the Stings are worthy opponents.

The two teams have met 11 times overall with the Jaguars winning eight times.

The Stings have now appeared three times in the final. They also featured in the Division 2 final in 2014. Stings Coach Annelie Lucas says.

KwaZulu-Natal Kingdom Stars beat Gauteng Fireballs 59-57 in the Promotion/Relegation playoff match.

Stars will now campaign in Division 1 next year, while the Fireballs will be relegated to Division 2. Free State Crinums beat North West Flames 56-49 in the 3rd/4th place playoff match, while Mamelodi Sundowns male legends lost 10-2 to the Netball legends in an exhibition match. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
