Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Free State Art Talk is an initiative carried out by the Free State department of Arts and Culture. The exhibition houses artworks and some ceramics and all pieces are for sale.

Richard Bollers, the acting head of Mmabana Cultural Center, which falls under the initiative, said that their artists were encouraged to express themselves.

“We didn’t have any input, we give the artists the freedom and we’re just there to support”.

Bollers said that even though the artists may not necessarily sell artworks, the networking opportunities at National Arts Festival is crucial. “The sales will come with time, but getting the opportunity to exhibit with other artists, other galleries, and other events is what is important”.

Bollers praised the initiative, saying that “without the support of the department, we wouldn’t have been able to come to Grahamstown”.

The exhibition is in the Steve Biko building and runs everyday from 09:00 to 17:00
