Gaddafi was a dictator: Mugabe

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has described the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi as a dictator. Mugabe, however, says this did not give the West the right to kill him in the manner that they did because he stood for the interest of his country and wanted to see a united Africa.

Ironically Mugabe himself is often labelled a dictator.

“They came to Libya, we had a good friend called Gaddafi. We didn’t believe from a democratic point of view that his system was democratic. He was a dictator, we agreed, but a friend of his people, a lover of his people. One who desired that his people should develop. One who desired that none of his people should live in poverty, ” Mugabe said.

Gaddafi was killed in October, 2011. The former leader was seen on video being mocked, beaten and abused before he died.
