The Automobile Association says the fuel price is expected to decrease in the New Year. It says the decrease will be due to the Rand’s appreciation against the US dollar since the beginning of December, especially since Cyril Rampahosa was elected African National Congress (ANC) president.
Current data shows that petrol is set to decrease by 10 cents a litre, with diesel and illuminating paraffin is expecting to lower by around 6 cents.
The association has however warned that this could change in a negative or positive way depending on the political climate following the ANC national elective conference, which ends on Wednesday, as well as the international economic sentiment.
