The DA hopes to showcase what it calls good governance under the theme “Freedom You Can Use” at its 5th Federal Congress, taking place in Gauteng this weekend. Congress Convener Greg Krumbock says the theme was motivated by the aim to showcase the party’s good governing track record. The Congress hopes to achieve real freedom for the people.
“We have a good track record in governing the Western Cape and our service delivery efforts have been very effective and visible,” Krumbock says. “In the five entities we govern, there is no corruption and money stealing,” he added.
This is said to be one of the keenly contested congress’ ahead of the 2014 elections. The Federal Congress and Federal Council are tasked with filling seven Federal Leadership positions. A total of 18 nominations have been received for the seven positions available.
Any member of the party is allowed to nominate any other member and nominations are in a member’s individual capacity and not on behalf of any branch or structure of the party.
Party leader Helen Zille is to address the Congress this morning. Her address will be streamed live on www.sabc.co.za/news as well as SABC News’ YouTube channel.
