Free State Department of Education MEC Tate Makgoe will visit Moroka Secondary School in Thaba Nchu to monitor the start of the National Senior Certificate exams on Wednesday.

The exams will run from October 27 until December 7.

The Department of Basic Education says the results are expected to be released on January 20, 2022.

The Free State Education Department says it is confident that all the preparations made ahead of the matric final exams will once again earn it the number one spot in the country’s matric results.

Thirty-six thousand full-time candidates and 7 100 part-time candidates in the province will write exams to obtain their national senior certificate.

The Free State is targetting a 90% matric pass rate this year, up from last year’s 85.1%.

KwaZulu-Natal

Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal’s matric learners join thousands of learners from across the country for the start of the exams.

Over 200 000 full-time and part-time candidates will sit for these exams in the province, the largest number nationally.

This is also the largest number of students writing in the province in the last six years.

MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal Kwazi Mshengu is expected to monitor the start of exams in KwaMashu.
