The Free State government says it is satisfied by the progress made at the Metsimaholo Local Municipality in Sasolburg after it managed to pass its annual budget.

Free State Director General Kopung Ralikontsane says they are pleased about the progress made at the Metsimaholo municipality which is under a coalition of the African National Congress (ANC), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), South African Communist Party (SACP) and Independent parties.

“We are happy that they have been able to pass their budget which means that they have started to put politics aside and to think about governance and that gives us more courage and conviction that there will be stability there.”

“There are issues around who should be in the leadership there and those issues affecting leadership did not really affect our budget and we are happy about the maturity of parties there and maturity of the entire coalition governance. They are prioritising governance and now I’m sure other party issues, they will manage them,” adds Ralikontsane.
