The French foreign ministry has indicated to the United States that it is unacceptable for South Africa to be excluded from participating in this year’s G20 Summit to be held in Florida.
This comes after France announced that President Cyril Ramaphosa has been disinvited to the G7 Summit in the town of Evian in June because of pressure from the Trump administration.
South Africa hosted the G20 Summit last year in Johannesburg and prioritised several issues facing the global south.
France has invited Kenyan President William Ruto to the G7 gathering.
The BLOC remains influential, consisting of the richest nations in the world.
Bilateral relations between South Africa and the US remain frosty.
This after the Trump administration insinuated that there was a white genocide in South Africa, a claim Pretoria has vehemently denied.
