Four people have been arrested after a tip-off during a community meeting led to the Joburg Metro Police’s K9 unit raiding a brothel in Diepkloof in Soweto at the weekend.

MMC for Community Safety, Michael Sun has praised the community for their involvement saying team work and synergy between authorities and residents goes a long way to keeping Johannesburg safe and crime-free.

Sun says communtiy members alerted him to a particular house that has been haunting the residents for some time.

The house was occupied by a male operator who was later arrested for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

He says the property was clearly used as an illegal brothel due to the amount of condoms scattered around the house.

There were three other young ladies which the police officers questioned.

“The suspects were taken to the South African Police Service for further investigations and charges,” says Sun.
