Four people have been killed and one critically injured in a collision between a car and a truck near Carletonville on Gauteng’s Far West Rand on Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at the intersection of the N14 and R500 intersection.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring says medics arrived to find one women and three men trapped inside the wreck of the car.
“Unfortunately all four of these patients had already succumbed to their multiple fatal injuries. Another man was assessed and found to have sustained critical injuries. He was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions.”
“Once [he was] treated he was airlifted by the ER24 one plan medical helicopter to Baragwaneth [Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital] provincial hospital for urgent care. The driver of the truck fortunately escaped injuries,” adds Meiring.
