Four children, aged between three and ten, and their family driver have been kidnapped and their vehicle hijacked in the leafy suburb of Bendor, in Polokwane, Limpopo.

According to a local CPF leader, Mabotse Mothiba, the incident happened while the children were being taken to school this morning.

The hijacked vehicle was however found abandoned on the N1 north. It is suspected that the victims were taken into a silver-grey Toyota Fortuner which headed to the N1 south.

It is still not clear if the hijackers have made any demands or ransom requests. Police have confirmed the incident.

Mothiba has urged members of the public to help police with information.

“We are currently looking for the boys that are alleged to be in a silver-grey Fortuner vehicle, and they are also allegations that there are two more vehicles that are involved in this. But the police are following up on that information. We are, however, appealing to all members of the society, to assist the police if they see or spot that particular vehicle with the four boys in it. They are still wearing their uniforms. We appeal to anyone to quickly call the police and let them know if they have spotted them.”
