Cricket South Africa (CSA) has appointed former Proteas captain Graeme Smith as its director of Cricket. He will initially serve a two-year term until the end of March 2022.
CSA’s Acting Chief Executive, Dr Jacques Faul, says Smith made a huge impact during the six months he served in an acting capacity.

Faul says although there is still a great deal of work to be done, as the performance of national teams has reflected, Smith has put South African cricket on an upward trajectory.
Smith also bought all the overall pillars of CSA’s strategy, including the importance of transformation since his appointment as interim director of Cricket.
Smith says he’s delighted to remain on board.
