Former Kenyan statesmen Kibaki’s body arrives at the Nyawo Stadium for his funeral service

The body of the former President of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki has arrived at the Nyawo Stadium for his funeral service. Kibaki died last week thursday at the age of 90 at his home.

He became the third President since independence of Kenya in 1963.

Thousands of Kenyans have braved the morning rain to pay their last respect to the former president.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa is also among dignitaries who attended the service such as Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and South Sudan President, Salva Kiir. Kibaki led Kenya from 2002 until 2013 before Arap Moi and Jomo Kenyatta.

He spearheaded free primary education and access to healthcare in Kenya.

Kibaki will receive military honour when he’s being laid to rest on saturday at his home town of Othaya central Kenya.
