Former member of the Kingdom of Eswatini’s parliament, Mduduzi Simelane known as ‘Magawugawu’ has formed a new political party, the Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO).

SWALIMO was launched in Johannesburg, in South Africa, since political activism remains prohibited in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Speaking during the launched of the party, Simelane says SWALIMO has been formed to intensify their call for electoral reform in the tiny country that is Africa’s last absolute monarch.

He says they strongly believe that the ongoing calls for democracy will yield positive results.

Simelane further says they want to see the lives of ordinary citizens of Eswatini being improved and all to enjoy equal rights.

“All shall enjoy decent public health and free education. The military and police force shall defend the will of the people. All shall be equal above the law and none shall be above it.  They shall be houses security and transparent employment opportunities among our people,” says Simelane.
