Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs defender Siphiwe Mkhonza has passed away at the age of 45.
Mkhonza began his professional career in 1999 and made over 200 appearances playing for clubs such as Bloemfontein Celtic, Chiefs, and Supersport United. He also won seven caps for the national team.
His most successful stint with any club was with Chiefs between 2004 and 2007, winning the league title in his debut season with the club.

He also received his first national call-up during this period.
He became a soccer analyst for the SABC in 2013.
Battling with illness, he disappeared off the air in recent months.
