Food security, economy not to be compromised in land expropriation: Ramaphosa

Reading Time: < 1 minute

African National Congress (ANC) President, Cyril Ramaphosa, says the governing party will make sure that food security and the economy will not be compromised when land is expropriated.

The Deputy President addressed the Vatsonga Macahanga traditional leaders in Mavambe near Malamulele in Limpopo on Saturday.

Ramaphosa is leading the ANC Top Six officials, who are engaging with traditional leaders in various parts of the province this weekend.

Ramaphosa says the apartheid regime robbed people of their land and it’s time for that to be reversed.

“As we take land, we must make sure that the economy and food security is not compromised and food production is not destroyed. Those are the things to look out for, they are not going to be impediments and stop us – there are things that need to be done and be decisive because the original sin was committed when our land was taken.”
