Walter Sisulu University (WSU) management in the Eastern Cape says five of its students arrested allegedly for dealing in drugs at the institution’s premises could face expulsion.

The students were busted last Thursday at one of the residences at Zamukulungisa Campus in Mthatha.

University spokesperson Yonela Tukwayo says the students were found in possession of sizable amount of dagga and tick.

Tukwayo says, police also confiscated suspected stolen electronic goods and cell phones.

“It’s not just for usage but rather for distribution or sales of drugs as well. We condemn such lawlessness on campus as soon as the students are released from the police we will start instituting our own charges against the students. We do have strong rules against the use of drugs and alcohol on our campus, this  will run parallel to the  legal process that the police have already  started it could be a long  term  suspension or expulsion all together.”
