Five-star treatment awaits world leaders at Ramaphosa’s inauguration

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Five-star treatment awaits world leaders as red carpet is being laid in preparation for the inauguration of President-elect, Cyril Ramaphosa, on Saturday.

The country’s security cluster is on a high alert as large crowds are expected at Loftus Versveld Stadium in Pretoria, where the ceremony will take place.

Members of the public are urged to park their vehicles at the Tshwane Events Centre, west of the Central Business District (CBD), where they will be taken to the venue in shuttle coaches.

“So you go there, you park your car there and then, you will be shuttled to go to Rietondale,” says Government Communication and Information System Director, Tshegofatso Modubu.

“You will be processed at Rietondale and then your buses will come and they will drop you off at gate two. At gate two, you will get a media official that will then take you up to where you need to be situated.”

The KwaZulu-Natal Government Communication and Information Systems Department says there will be public viewing areas in various parts of the province for the President’s inauguration.

KwaZulu-Natal GCIS Director Ndala Mngadi says they want to make sure that the inauguration is accessible to as many people as possible.

“We’ve got seven areas where we will be screening and making sure that as many people as possible are able to watch the inauguration and are able to be part of the proceedings and to take part in discussion and programs that will be taking part in different parts of the province. And because it’s Africa Day tomorrow, we are working with various stakeholders such as the department of Arts and Culture; we are working with various NGOs to put together various interesting programs.”
