Five people have died in a collision between a bakkie and a car on the N11 between Ladysmith and Newcastle in northern KwaZulu-Natal. It is believed that the crash occurred about 10km outside Newcastle.
Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Robert McKenzie, says four people died on the scene while the fifth shortly after arrival at a hospital.
“Tragically, there have been several fatalities as a result of this crash. Four patients died at the scene of the crash while one patient died shortly after arriving at hospital. Two patients are still in a critical condition. The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are not known at this stage and is being investigated by the police.”
