Reading Time: 2 minutes
A group of runners at Polokwane in Limpopo have celebrated Valentine’s Day by organising a short distance fun run. The fitness enthusiasts promoted exercise during their colourful run in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Dressed in symbolic red gear, the runners gathered in the name of fitness and love. They say fitness is important during the worldwide pandemic and have a message to all who lost their loved ones from COVID-19
Fun Run Coordinator, Tsholofelo Tsiane says, “Valentine’s Day s a time to celebrate with loved ones to encourage friendship, love and enthusiasm. So we organised this run as Polokwane runners for us to be all here and happy and celebrate as it has been a difficult pandemic year. We are saying you are not lonely even if you have lost your loved one, we are here for you.”
One of the couples participating in the run had this to say. “We have been married for about 20 years. We started running I think about seven years back. When I joined her it was just to support her because we run in the night so I wanted to be a security guard then I found myself hooked. Couples that run together stay together. It also strengthens our love relationship. It’s all about fitness at home. We talk fitness, we talk love.”
