First results of Elections 2019: Mvomvo Lodge Eastern Cape

The first results in the 2019 national and provincial elections are from Mvomvo Lodge, where five people were registered to vote in the Alfred Nzo district. Mvomvo Lodge is a 100% women-owned enterprise, which was established in 2015. 24 people actually voted at the station – the five owners, and their guests.

The lodge is in the Mzimvubu Municipality (near Mt Ayliff) in the Eastern Cape.

Mvomvo is only half a kilometer from Ntabankulu and 5km from the well-known Phuthi Junction and lies in the picturesque hilly area popular for hikes and nature trails.

In the 2016 local government elections, the ANC won the ward with 53.8% of the vote with the UDM in second place with 37.2%.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) came a close second to the ANC in Mzimvubu Municipality.

Party spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi says the results show a change in the country’s politics.
