Fire fighters still battling with Cape Town’s fire

Aerial support has been brought in to assist in water-bombing the fire raging between Signal Hill and Lion’s Head in Cape Town.

The focus of the operation is now on the Camps Bay side of Lion’s Head. The fire which is burning high up in the mountain is currently not posing a threat to properties.

Weather conditions have also improved somewhat from Saturday when the South Easter reach gale force conditions, fanning the flames.

Two helicopters are assisting in water bombing the fire which is burning up on the Camps Bay side of the Lions head mountain.

On the ground about 80 firefighters with 20 vehicles are monitoring the situation. They have been struggling throughout the night to try and contain the fire.
