The Freedom Front Plus (FFP) says it will ask President Cyril Ramaphosa to urgently established a Commission of inquiry into the killings of farmers in the country.

The party was reacting to the recent spate of farm murders over the weekend, where at least three farmers were killed.

Party leader Pieter Groenewald says he will also be seeking a meeting with the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, to treat farm murders as a priority.

“Firstly the silence is wrong. Secondly, I am going to request the President to open a Commission of inquiry to farm murders, like he did for the mosque… Also, I am going to request the Minister of Police to prioritise murders on farmers like the robberies in houses – because a farm murder, like an attack in the house, is in the same category as robbery. If that is prioritised, then the farm murder must also be prioritised,” says Groenewald.
