The 25 -year-old boxer was allegedly killed by her boyfriend - a member of the police's Tactical Response Team.

South African female boxing champion Leighandre ‘Baby Lee’ Jegels has been killed in a shooting incident near Mdantsane in East London.

Jegels’ mother was also shot and is in hospital.

The shooting took place following a high speed car chase.

It is alleged that the shooter, her boyfriend, is a member of the South African Police Service.

Police have confirmed that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is investigating a case against the boxer’s policeman boyfriend.
