Father of slain Mtebeni refuses to accept Pasile’s apology

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Emotions ran high in the Eastern Cape High Court in East London as Nosicelo Mtebeni’s father Kholisile rejected the apology from Alutha Pasile.

Nosicelo’s father broke down in court as he responded to Pasile’s apology. Pasile has pleaded guilty to killing Nosicelo in August this year.

He is also charged with attempts to defeat the course of justice. Nosicelo’s dismembered body was found in a suitcase at the corner of Fleet Street in East London.

In a letter read by his lawyer, Alutha said he feels shameful for what he has done and regrets his actions.
He says he was possessed by evil spirits.

Aluta apologised, saying he’s unable to sleep at night as he sees the gruesome act he did every time he closes his eyes.

Nosicelo’s father wept uncontrollably following the reading of the letter where he expressed regret and asked for forgiveness not only from the Mtebeni family but also from his own, the religious fraternity as well as South Africa at large.

The court gave Mtebeni’s father an opportunity to respond to Nosicelo’s killer.

The case against Pasile has been postponed to Thursday for a pre-sentencing report at the East London High Court.

Video evidence of Pasile at the hardware shop where he purchased tools used to dismember Mtebeni’s body emerged, as well as that of his confession to her murder.

Pasile has for the first time, through his lawyer Ncumisa Dyantyi, given details that speak to what had transpired between himself and the deceased before her untimely death.
