The family of late media consultant, Libby Lloyd, say they plan to celebrate her life.

The 56-year-old died of oral cancer on Thursday at the Wits hospice in Johannesburg.

She started out as a journalist having worked at Capital Radio, National Public Radio in the United States and BBC Ireland.

Lloyd also worked on projects focusing on gender and communications and was chosen as the Vodacom Media Woman of the Year in 2005.

She battled cancer for two years.

Lloyd’s sister, Brigit Lloyd says she’s been incredibly brave in how she’s dealt with this and how she’s brought everybody along with her in coping with it.

She says, “Her transition has been as Libby lived her life, she decided that it was time to go. She said she doesn’t want too much mourning and she and we the family want it to be a celebration of Libby’s life.”
