Families of nine victims who died in a truck and train crash early in January say they are battling to come to terms with the situation.
Twenty-one people were killed, and over 200 injured when a Shosholoza Meyl train travelling from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg collided with a truck before bursting into flames at a rail crossing between Kroonstad and Hennenman.
The mass funeral service for nine victims took place in Virginia, in the northern Free State on Saturday.
A family member of one of the deceased says the accident really affected them. “We have been looking forward to good things for Sipho. He was a promising young boy and a humble soul.”
“The accident leaves us with so many questions.”
A family member of another victim says: “To my family and all of those people who lost their families, God never fails and we continue to trust in him.”
