Families of the eight passengers who lost their lives in the bus crash near Vryheid are currently in the process of identifying the bodies of their loved ones.

The fatal incident occurred on Sunday morning when a bus, transporting ANC supporters from Mpumalanga, veered off the R33 between Vryheid and Paulpietersburg, resulting in eight fatalities and four injuries.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of the Zululand District Municipality, Siyabonga Mbatha, expressed condolences and called on the government to address road conditions in the area.

ANC awaits full report into fatal bus crash following the party’s manifesto launch on Saturday:

Mbatha says, “This is a very tragic accident that has just happened here. We, as Zululand District Municipality, would really love to convey our words of sympathy and comfort to the families and the African National Congress. We urge our government to come on board to assist our community.”

“If you look at these roads, the R33 and R34, the state of these roads is in a very dire condition, so we are of the view that if the government can intervene, really something can be done,” added Mbatha.

Initial reports said nine ANC supporters were killed in KZN bus crash:
